Margaret I combines music, movement and text from Shakespeare’s Henry VI tetralogy, his sources, early female writers, and contemporary responses to explore the role of women in politics, war and sex.

Margaret I was originally developed through research at the Folger Library.  It was presented as The Margaret Project was presented at the Player’s Club Theatre by Co Creation Productions in an equity staged reading starring Rachel Spencer Hewitt (A Civil War Christmas), Susan Heyward (“Vinyl”), Reiko Aylesworth (“24”), Melody Bates (Antony & Cleopatra), Nick Dillenburg (“Orange is the New Black”), Vince Gatton (Candy & Dororthy), Steven Rattazzi (NYSF’s Henry V), Dana Watkins (The Jazz Age).  Music composed by Alexander Sovronsky (Broadway’s Cyrano de Bergerac, NYSF’s Romeo & Juliet).
