A wide portfolio

LEWIS is an international communications agency with an extensive breadth of clients. I develop content used across EMEA for clients ranging from fintech scale-ups to international electronics corporations. I write and edit press releases, blogs, bylines, subtitles, and social posts that are intended to be published in English and also translated. Additionally, I translate press material from Dutch to English.

Who markets the marketers?

In addition to client work, I write bylines and blogs to extend LEWIS’ message. Some are placed in outlets like SC Magazine and Frankwatching, where my articles were the most-read of 2019. Some are for LEWIS’ owned channels. I also co-wrote the initial Marketing Engagement Tracker report, which used LEWIS’ proprietary tool to analyze the Forbes Top 300.

Communicating in engineer

Container Solutions deploys Cloud Native technology, which is constantly evolving and sometimes poorly understood by potential customers. Additionally, they face a competitive hiring environment in which they need to authentically communicate the level of support and development opportunities they offer employees.

Projects

The portfolio of marketing/communications projects I wrote and/or edited for Container Solutions had the enjoyable challenge of working with talented engineers to communicate technical concepts to people who didn’t have their expertise. I partnered with marketing agency Remember to Play – an expert translator of complicated ideas to clear visuals – to create a cohesive, multinational style guide. I also wrote a recruitment campaign that included a new career page, social & blog posts, and interview profiles of a diverse set of employees.

Talking to designers

To help Adobe communicate the unique facilities of Creative Cloud to designers, LEWIS did two projects that I worked on. The first was social media and blogging around Adobe’s Amsterdam Creative Jam, the designer equivalent of a hackathon in which teams were challenged to build and design around a theme. The other was a worldwide design contest for popular DJ duo Lucas & Steve centred around Amsterdam Dance Event.

Talking to businesses

To hone in on customer perception, I did extensive interviews with Adobe’s business customers and with a wide range of attendees at The Next Web, a European hub for tech businesses. I developed the interview format, found interviewees at The Next Web, and delivered a report on the aggregate results.

A sassy travel app

Tiqets is an Amsterdam-based travel app that offers discounted tickets to tourist attractions. To reach their millennial target audience, they use a sassy, upbeat tone while subtly enticing with specific benefits. Tiqets’ blog is meant to drive traffic with city-specific articles that travelers share and repost.

Products & post research

The product copy and blog posts I wrote both needed online research. Skeletal site information was supplemented by online reviews and gossip in order to craft detailed descriptions. The attraction below had not yet opened, so the challenge was to draw images from a press release that didn’t have concrete details. The blog posts were based on my own travels but augmented by research.

An innovative scale-up launch

Lightyear is a fast-moving scale-up developing the world’s first long-range solar car. When LEWIS was hired to help promote the prototype launch, I quickly became involved in writing & editing not just English content for PR but also for their new website. It was a fabulous opportunity to work with the quickly evolving team to hone their messaging and mission.

Coordinated results

The website project ran concurrently with writing & editing English press releases and blog posts leading up to and following the prototype launch. In the process, I worked with the growing communications team to translate the core principles of the company to style rules. The sleek new website complemented LEWIS’ successful PR campaign.
